This map tells a powerful story. It showcases the growing number of communities across Australia that are interested in, needing and/or actively building Place Based Capital. 🎉

From regions to metro hubs, there is a shared desire to develop capital solutions that are grounded in place, focused on people, and driven by local ownership, control, inclusion and equity.

They are coming together to strengthen and establish local capital systems to address big challenges like:
🏠 Housing affordability
🌱 Sustainable economic transitions
🤝 Local business resilience

What excites me most is how this movement is place driven. The interest and need captured here show that place matters—and so does local leadership.

We’re seeing a shift: communities no longer waiting for external capital solutions but instead stepping into the driver’s seat to shape their futures. 🚀

Each dot represents a place where local people and organisations are interested in or actively working towards solutions that can enable them to:
✅ Identify and generate existing and new sources of place based funding, income and assets
✅ Access place based funding and assets for local economic and community development
✅ Set-up, buy and own local assets and enterprises
✅ Govern and manage local finance, assets, enterprises and services
✅ Pool local capital for collective impact
✅ Invest and store capital in the community
✅ Strategically use capital to benefit the community, lead development and unlock opportunities
✅ Reinvest capital and foster local circular wealth

This map is just the beginning. Every place on it has a unique story, and I’m thrilled to be part of this collective effort to strengthen financial self-reliance, community resilience, and drive equitable prosperity.
